About the Speaker,
Melissa Fryrear:

Luke chapter 7 tells the tender story of a woman so emotionally overwhelmed having personally encountered Christ that she washed His feet with her tears, wiped them with her hair and then anointed them with a sweet smelling perfume. She's not mentioned by name; the Bible only refers to her as someone who had lived a sinful life. Later in the chapter, Jesus says of the woman that her many sins must have been forgiven or she would not have shown such great love.

Theme Scripture:

"But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away."

2 Corinthians 3:16

Like the woman described in Luke's gospel, for many years Melissa also lived a sinful life—for almost a decade engaging in sexually immoral behavior, abusing alcohol daily, chain smoking, experimenting with recreational drugs, using food to quell emotional emptiness, and spending her way into devastating debt. And it was Jesus' forgiving and liberating grace that so radically changed her life.

These experiences give her an immense empathy and understanding for women who need to encounter Christ's loving arms of forgiveness and grace. With her trademark humor and transparent vulnerability, Melissa is able to connect deeply with those who have endured immense heartache and pain. In addition, from the magnificent truths of Scripture, and out of her own experience, she is able to offer wisdom to those who wish to compassionately shepherd women in the midst of painful struggles.

Melissa is the president and founder of Daughters of Grace Ministries, LLC, a ministry dedicated to helping women of all ages find deeper wholeness and restoration, a greater impartation and sharpening of their gifts and talents, and a fuller release into their destinies in Christ. She previously served at Focus on the Family as a departmental director, keynote conference speaker, and senior media spokesperson. She holds a Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary.
